Artist's Description

On one of our trips to Mt. Charleston, I was ambushed by Currier and Ives. I was forced to commit to memory (the memory on my camera’s SDXC card) a picturesque setting in which a church built according to classic rural church architecture lay in heavenly peace in the quietly majestic mountainous setting. Being myself, I did include an element of deceit in the composition: the cars in the foreground are actually parked in the lot for the hotel where we stayed, having nothing to do with the church, which was across the street and relatively unslammed.

About Carl Wilkerson

Carl Wilkerson

Having lived in the Southwest for over 15 years, Carl Wilkerson has become one of its most thoughtful observers. Among his creative, philosophical and intellectual pursuits, photography has become central. "A camera produces both an object, the photograph, and a record of the subjective," Wilkerson observes. "There are so many things I can explain only through a picture. Words are not always enough." His works include: ethnography, landscapes and cityscapes, models and portraits (of both human and furry variety). He generally simply captures what interests him in the moment, but he is available for commissions.
