Artist's Description

The oldest living organism is a web of roots in Southern Utah. It’s a half-day’s drive from Las Vegas. We met up with some friends, Theresa and Scott. They were touring the country in a motorhome that summer. I had the white balance off in this photo of Theresa, accentuating the trees produced by the root system. We later sent them a 36” x 24” canvas print of this image.

About Carl Wilkerson

Carl Wilkerson

Having lived in the Southwest for over 15 years, Carl Wilkerson has become one of its most thoughtful observers. Among his creative, philosophical and intellectual pursuits, photography has become central. "A camera produces both an object, the photograph, and a record of the subjective," Wilkerson observes. "There are so many things I can explain only through a picture. Words are not always enough." His works include: ethnography, landscapes and cityscapes, models and portraits (of both human and furry variety). He generally simply captures what interests him in the moment, but he is available for commissions.
