I got caught behind my wife and her disability scooter coming back from a nature trail in Laughlin, NV. As she crossed the bridge leading back to Casino Drive, I got a shot of her with the bridge architecture framing her and the Riverside Hotel and Casino in the background. The footbridge provided a nice opportunity to suggest “mobility,” unlike almost every setting I could have used in an urbanized environment.
Having lived in the Southwest for the past 10 years, Carl Wilkerson has become one of its most thoughtful observers. Among his creative, philosophical and intellectual pursuits, photography has become central. "A camera produces both an object, the photograph, and a record of the subjective," Wilkerson observes. "There are so many things I can explain only through a picture. Words are not always enough." His works include: ethnography, landscapes and cityscapes, models and portraits (of both human and furry variety). He generally simply captures what interests him in the moment, but he is available for commissions.
