Coming out of a diner in Vegas, I noticed an antique car show in the parking lot. I got a few snaps with my trusty Nikon Coolpix A. One came out especially well: a fiery red car that tapped into all of my inner preschooler’s aesthetics regarding automobiles.
Having lived in the Southwest for the past 10 years, Carl Wilkerson has become one of its most thoughtful observers. Among his creative, philosophical and intellectual pursuits, photography has become central. "A camera produces both an object, the photograph, and a record of the subjective," Wilkerson observes. "There are so many things I can explain only through a picture. Words are not always enough." His works include: ethnography, landscapes and cityscapes, models and portraits (of both human and furry variety).
